Victor Montague is a self taught artist, born and raised in the Nations Capital, Washington, DC. Specializing in realism and figurative painting. He uses oil paint to convey his message. Growing up rooted in a community filled with the riches of black culture came with both its benefits and challenges. While trying to cope with growing into manhood. Being black in America, Victor found himself in situations that could have really shifted the reality of his life. His one outlet, his constant force, was the artwork he could create. With a natural talent for creating, he allowed art to be his escape from it all. It allowed him to express emotions and moments he couldn't always articulate. He not only interprets life experiences on canvas that one may have seen or can relate to, but the emotions he as a black man experiences through his own interpretation of it. He challenges the viewer to see a literal portrayal of black culture in a captivating and powerful way.
